Sydney vegans unite!

You would be surprised how many places in Sydney are either dedicated to the vegan cause, or at least have a few options on their menu to tempt you.

Here is a delicious sample of our favourite Sydney vegan places that sell treats and desserts.

1) Vegan's Choice - King St, Newtown

Next to Green Gourmet (best vegan Yum Cha in the Inner West) is Vegan's Choice. Your number one store/bakery for vegan goodies in the Inner West.

Vegan's Choice has vegan, raw, gluten-free, and refined sugar-free cakes and fudgey brownies. Add a scoop of chocolate tofu ice cream for a sweet finishing touch.

Their treats and desserts are also sold at the second Green Gourmet Restaurant in St Leonards.

Recommendation: Every brownie that they sell.

2) Gelato Blue - King St, Newtown

Still in the cool town of Newtown, and just a stone's throw away from Vegan's Choice, is the coolest retro gelato store, Gelato Blue.

They have classic sorbet flavours that are vegan, and they have been very creative with their other vegan gelatos. Peanut Butter Brownie anyone?

Gelato Blue also has a huge range of delicious non-gelato vegan treats: lamingtons, caramel slices, and red velvet cakes.

Pop into Gelato Blue with your vegan and non-vegan friends, everyone is welcome here.

Recommendation: Choc Hazelnut Praline Sorbet, and their vegan lamingtons.

3) Sadhana Kitchen - Enmore Rd, Enmore

Turning right onto Enmore Road from King St is Sydney's first Organic Wholefoods and Raw foods cafe: Sadhana Kitchen.

Along with amazing lunches, smoothies, and cheezecakes (yes, 'cheeze'), Sadhana also makes raw, vegan, gluten free and refined sugar free versions of old familiar treats. Do you miss Tim Tams? Sadhana has their own version, along with their raw Wagon Wheel.

Want something cool during this Summer heat? Well, Sadhana has just started selling CocoWhip - a softserve alternative.

Vegan Tim Tam Slam anyone?

Recommendation: Raw Wagon Wheel.

4) Love Dem Apples - Cleveland St, Surry Hills

Surry Hills has its fair share of vegan places too, it's just not the Inner West. And the best place for a vegan treat is a little shop on the edge of the Surry Hills boarder called Love Dem Apples.

The only store devoted to Caramel Apples in NSW, they don't leave anyone out!

Love Dem Apples make frozen bananas using vegan chocolate! Make those bodies sing (remember the banana ad from the 1990s?) and munch on your frozen chocolate banana with sprinkles or peanuts.

Recommendation: Frozen Chocolate Banana with peanuts.

5) Iku Wholefood - Various Sydney locations

First opened in Glebe in 1985, Iku Wholefood focuses on health, organic and fresh foods, because if you have a balanced diet you will have a balanced life!

Iku Wholefoods have all you need in terms of gluten free, dairy-free, and vegan choices. Sweet dishes range from strawberry tarts to cocoa friands, for that sneaky mid-morning splurge.

Located in various places in Sydney, you won't be disappointed.

Recommendation: Fig muffin.

6) N2 Extreme Gelato - Dixon St, Sydney & King St, Newtown

Liquid nitrogen and sorbet = SCIENCE! And yes, sometimes even delicious vegan sorbet are appearing more and more on their weekly menus. While everyone else tucks into their frozen bacon and egg custard gelato, you can enjoy a vegan mango sorbet, or even a coconut sorbet coated with vegan chocolate and topped with coconut flakes.

The flavours change every week (menu uploaded onto social media) and recently N2 Extreme has opened its doors in trendy Newtown.

Not sure which flavour is vegan-friendly? Ask one of the 'scientists' for their cool sweet advice.

Recommendation: If it comes back soon, The Bouncy Bounty.

Enjoy and remember: a moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips. Worth it!
