Due to the craziness of 2020/2021 - Foodi Walking Tours is going on hiatus for the time being.

We aim to re-open as soon as the majority of our venues can accommodate groups again in a way that makes the tours possible - most likely later in 2022.

Any voucher valid in January 2021 will be automatically extended. If you have any questions please contact support@foodi.com.au.

Thank you for your understanding.

Newstead Afternoon Food Safari      Brisbane
Located just north-east of the CBD, Newstead is a thriving inner suburb on the Brisbane river. Time: Saturdays at 2.30pm (selected dates)
Duration: 2.5 - 3 hours
Meeting Point: Gasworks Plaza

Over the past 15 years, Newstead has undergone a dramatic transformation from a run-down former industrial suburb, to a desirable, upmarket riverside precinct.

This area is now one of Brisbane’s most desirable and iconic destinations.

On this walking tour, you will visit hand-picked restaurants, cafes and licensed bars, and sample a mix of delectable savoury and sweet offerings, and beverage samples. You will also learn about how the venues were established and why the owners are so passionate about their craft.

Have a great afternoon, hosted by a local who will share the secrets of Newstead's hidden gems and better known landmarks.

The tour price covers all food samples, but cannot accommodate for gluten or dairy free. We do not recommend customers under the age of 18 to attend, as we visit licensed venues and some beverage samples contain alcohol.

There will be some walking involved on the day, so please wear comfortable shoes and bring an umbrella if the weather calls for it.

We enjoyed the historical lessons about the area of Newstead. Eddie had extensive knowledge of beer which came in handy at the Newstead Brewery. The food we sampled was varied and we liked the Italian restaurant the best - Giannis. It was great to hear about their specials, see the live pizza making / cooking demonstration and chat to the staff. We will certainly be back.

It was great! My wife and I had a lot of fun. There was a lot more food than we expected at the event. The tour guide was really friendly and helpful. The food at Gianni's was great!

I thought it was pretty good. This would be a great one for both locals and visitors alike, getting into the skin of the area and finding some of the more elusive eateries. These usually become the more rewarding ones.

Food and restaurants were good.

We thoroughly enjoyed it. It was interesting to learn about some aspects of the area that we knew nothing about. Food was great and we were amazed at all the eateries around the area that we didn't know existed. A great outing which we would highly recommend.

Tamara our Host, was a great host, a great people person, fantastic amount of knowledge of the area and businesses. The foode Trail is a great concept and what a selection of venues to chose from, absolutely awesome is the Fortitude Valley. Being that we were there often in the late 60's and 70's. Also it is full of young people.

We really liked the tour. Tamara was an engaging guide and our group was friendly. Mecca Bah provided an exotic start and the other places provided interesting contrasts. Wandering the back streets of Newstead was fun and we gained an insight into the area's history.

guide was lovely. But didn’t start well as 3 of us waiting at designated meeting point ‘botanica’ but no one else around so I had to contact guide who advised of change of meeting point. I had no update email or text. It was lovely of rest of group to wait before eating. Had a stop cancelled ‘eves’ as there closing . Apart from those few glitches it was nice tour went to places I’d never been and learnt some great facts. I would be happy to recommend.thanks

Fantastic work Tamara! We ended up with a private tour for our group and Tamara was an excellent host throughout! So friendly and helpful. Also a massive thankyou to all the team in the office who were able to assist with my booking. You are all fantastic!

Chocolate maker and Newstead Brewery were highlights that the river front bar and the gelato spot simply could not match and in fact were diminished by the comparison.

We had a great tour, Tamara was fun, friendly and knowledgeable. Our least favourite was Eves on the Park.

It was a fun afternoon. I left feeling very full. It was a pity that Eve's on the River only told the leader at the last moment that they jsd a function on and we could not visit. Our leader had recently arrived home, she was a bit lost with her commentary.

The venues we attended were great and the samples of what we had were enjoyable.

I found the tour relaxed and informative. We got some local history as well as information from the food venues. The group size was perfect. Tamara, our guide, added fun to the afternoon and was able to adjust well when one venue couldn't be visited. The food we tasted was great and the whole afternoon opened up a previously unvisited area of Brisbane to me.
