Sydney’s food culture is constantly evolving. There are always new restaurants opening or another cafe hiding in the recesses of this busy city. It is also home to some of the best chocolatiers in the country, ready for you to discover them.

This tour is a chance to discover some of Sydney’s best chocolatiers, right in the heart of the CBD. You’ll learn about how chocolate is produced, from a bean on the cacao tree through to the hands of the chocolate makers; and the terminology used by industry experts to describe the taste, smell, and forms of chocolate.

You’ll be able to sample the chocolates at each venue you visit, where you will also learn how the different cacao percentages affect the taste of the chocolate.

You will visit a variety of venues around the city, with a break in between. There will be some walking involved on the day, so please wear comfortable shoes and bring an umbrella if the weather calls for it.

The tour price includes the sit-down break, and all chocolate tastings on the day. This tour is not gluten or dairy free.

If you’re looking for a few hours of fun on the weekend, meet new people, and discovering new things about your city, Foodi tours will show you where to start.

It was enjoyable. The places we visited were nice and friendly. Our host Tracy-Ann was very friendly and knowledgeable and the information she told the group about chocolate was very interesting. This was a good event for those who are not that familiar with Sydney CBD as the guide was very good at explaining where we were and what kind of chocolate would be expected at each location.

Tour host was friendly, knowldgeable. Pleases visited were interesting and tour was great value for money. Don’t know how you do it for that ost. Loved the cafe downstairs, which I didn’t know existed, as with most of the other stores. The chocolate strawberry was a 10/10 alone.... Thank you for a lovely day- I will recommend it to friends for sure.

Thanks again for a wonderful morning in chocolate heaven. My eyes are wide opened and I now see budding chocolatiers everywhere! Best wishes for continued luscious expeditions. From chocolate-besotted Joanna Wagg (with Michael, the accompanying husband). Life by Chocolate Warm comfy bed envelops the chilly July morning. Steeling ourselves for the tantalisingly-named ‘chocolate walking tour’ advertised on the Foodi website in my inbox, one Friday, we give in and shiver out. Eight disparate secret-carrying strangers congeal into a group, at the corner of York and Elizabeth Streets, Sydney for a 10am, not-so-sharp start. Bright and breezy Tracey-Ann, our chocaholic guide, shares some useful statistics, history and trivia about chocolate-making in Sydney, before leading us to our sickly deaths by chocolate. Chocaholism has been her raison d'être for such weekly sojourns for the past eighteen months. We tempt our tastebuds at five chocolate-making haunts, dotted sporadically through the CBD. Persist with the effort Darrel Lea, Woollies, Coles and two-dollar shop chocolates, for even the classy Ferrero Rocher and Lindt don’t rate a mention on this select little amble . Down to Barangaroo, sleek and shiny new to Oh Boo, to die for. Oh Boy. Chocolate heaven causes chocolate brain. The rest is a blur of rich brown, creamy, soft, delicious, irresistible and decadent. Michael remembers, not fully immersed like me in this rich chocolate maze. Mind smudged around the edges and soft in the middle, behind marshmallow lenses of cacao and possibility. Ribboned and patterned cardboard designer bags, chic and over-arm-resting. Housing the best of the best, these ones won’t last. Eat them and enjoy them, for they will wither and fade; preservative-free. What better reason to indulge. Chocolate!

This was my first Foodi tour. I will defiantly be recommending this tour to family and friends. Tracy-Ann was full of knowledge and she was a pleasure to talk to she was very accommodating. Thank you Tracy-Ann for a fantastic morning you were truly excellent!!!!! I am now looking at doing the Newtown Day Safari, Food Night Surry Hills & the Cupcake tour I hope the other tour guides are just as pleasant as Tracy-Ann
