A day out on the town would not be complete without chocolate.

Time:Fortnightly, Saturday 10am
Duration: 2.5 hours
Meeting Point: Royal Arcade, Bourke Street

What better way to indulge yourself than with a tour around to Melbourne's best chocolatiers, sampling delicious treats.

If you are a chocoholic and looking for new places to try, or simply nursing an insatiable sweet tooth, this is the tour for you.

This tour is a chance to discover some of Melbourne’s best chocolatiers and gain insight into their craft. You’ll learn about how chocolate is produced, from a bean on the cacao tree through to the hands of the chocolate makers; and the terminology used by industry experts to describe the taste, smell, and forms of chocolate.

You’ll be able to sample the chocolates as you go and learn the elements of a proper chocolate tasting. You’ll also learn about the different cacao percentages, and how they affect the taste. Discounts on purchases are also available at a number of the venues.

You will visit a number of venues around the city, with a break in between. There will be some walking involved on the day, so please wear comfortable shoes and bring an umbrella if the weather calls for it.

The tour price includes the sit-down break, and all chocolate tastings on the day. This tour is not gluten or dairy free.

If you’re looking for a few hours of fun on the weekend, to meet new people, and discover new things about your city, Foodi tours will show you where to start.

I Loved this tour. Great variety of shops and samples and tour guide was lovely knowledgeable and kept the day light hearted and fun. She made sure she interacted with each person in the tour at some stage in the tour to get to know us and include us all in together. Discounts at the shops were a great incentive to extend the tour samples for the way home. Will definitely be back to our favourite shops for more chocolate. Was a great walk around the city laneways and arcades.

My wife and I really enjoyed the tour. At the first stop we only received one piece of chocolate each and we thought that we weren't going to get enough. However, over the duration of the tour we definitely had enough chocolate (one lady couldn't finish it all), including a magnificent mini hot chocolate. Our tour guide (Aster) was excellent - relaxed, friendly, informative without wanting to lecture us non-stop.
