Time: Fortnightly, Saturday 3pm
Duration: 3 hours
Meeting Point: Corner of Young Street and Johnston Street, Fitzroy.
Fitzroy was Melbourne's first suburb in 1839, and today it is the city’s smallest and most densely populated. Once known as notorious Fitzroy because of the high level of crime and poverty, this inner-city hub is now filled with vintage clothing stores, second-hand boutiques, art galleries and florists.
Brunswick Street is also also filled with an impressive abundance of cafes, restaurants and bars to choose from. With so many choices, it can be difficult to know where to go for a morning coffee, after-work wine, or weekend grazing board with friends.
Foodi will lead you through the urban maze, past local artwork, and introduce you to the best cheese, wine and tapas in Melbourne. You will visit several establishments with a sit-down break in between, and some venues will discuss their produce in detail.
This tour covers all food samples with a combination of both individual tastings and shared plates.
Additionally, the popular Australian TV show Offspring was set almost entirely in Fitzroy.
There will be some walking involved on the day, so please wear comfortable shoes and bring an umbrella if the weather calls for it.
Just minutes north of the CBD on the 112 tram, discover the bohemian heart of Melbourne.

A nice afternoon spent with friends getting to sample various food items from different places that we otherwise wouldn't know about. 4/5 by Julie Beaton 28-6-2016
Loved it - just didn't realise how much food we would be served as we definitely shouldn't have eaten lunch before setting off! Didn't really like the first stop (the coffee place) ... really a non-event ... it would've been helpful to have the process explained and the origin of the beans perhaps. 5/5 by Alison 20-6-2016

It was very enjoyable and well organised. Our host, Melissa was excellent and made a meeting of a disparate group of people much easier. She was very knowledgeable about the places we visited and was entertaining throughout the afternoon. The food we had was amazing and we will likely visit the venues again. 4/5 by Lisa Holgate 29-9-2015
