Time: Weekly, Saturday 10am
Duration: 2.5 hours
Meeting Point: Royal Arcade, Bourke Street

What better way to indulge yourself than with a tour around to Melbourne's best chocolatiers, sampling delicious treats.

If you are a chocoholic and looking for new places to try, or simply nursing an insatiable sweet tooth, this is the tour for you.

This tour is a chance to discover some of Melbourne’s best chocolatiers and gain insight into their craft. You’ll learn about how chocolate is produced, from a bean on the cacao tree through to the hands of the chocolate makers; and the terminology used by industry experts to describe the taste, smell, and forms of chocolate.

You’ll be able to sample the chocolates as you go and learn the elements of a proper chocolate tasting. You’ll also learn about the different cacao percentages, and how they affect the taste. Discounts on purchases are also available at a number of the venues.

You will visit eight venues around the city, with a break in between. There will be some walking involved on the day, so please wear comfortable shoes and bring an umbrella if the weather calls for it.

The tour price includes the sit-down break, and all chocolate tastings on the day. This tour is not gluten or dairy free.

If you’re looking for a few hours of fun on the weekend, to meet new people, and discover new things about your city, Foodi tours will show you where to start. To book a private tour for 8 or more people click here.

The Chocolate Walking Tour was a brilliant Melbourne experience that I would recommend to anyone visiting the city. I was looking for something different to do with my 16yr old niece, mother and sister on our trip and this was perfect!. I look forward to picking another foodi tour on my next visit.

It was interesting and I appreciated that we visited Melbourne chocolatiers, rather than the 'big' names. Great that not too much distance was covered, it was an easy walk. I really enjoyed the visit to the spice merchants - fantastic. The best thing was the hot chocolate at Ganache. Christina was an enthusiastic and informative host. Well done.

Overall the tour was enjoyable. It was quite cold and that might have taken the edge off the fun a little. I enjoyed the Ganache and the spice house. Cristina had a great personality.

A large group made it a little hard to hear the guide sometimes but overall the experience was good. Great to go to places you wouldn't normally visit in Melbourne and avoid the standard places. Great to discover new things.
