Duration: 2.5 hours
Meeting Point: Brisbane Visitors Information Centre, Queen Street Mall
The history and culture surrounding chocolate has become an artform that is the epitome of refinement and the height of luxury. Learning to taste chocolate and appreciate its complexity requires a finesse that comes with years of practise.
This tour is a chance to discover some of Brisbane’s best chocolatiers and gain insight into their craft. You’ll learn about how chocolate is produced, from a bean on the cacao tree through to the hands of the chocolate makers; and the terminology used by industry experts to describe the taste, smell, and forms of chocolate.
You’ll be able to sample the chocolates at each venue you visit, where you will also learn the elements of a proper chocolate tasting; the different cacao percentages, and how they affect the taste. Discounts on purchases are also available at a number of the venues.
You will visit four venues around the city, with a break in between. There will be a substantial amount of walking involved on the day, so please wear comfortable shoes and bring an umbrella if the weather calls for it. The tour price includes the sit-down break, and all chocolate tastings on the day. This tour is not gluten or dairy free.
If you’re looking for a few hours of fun on the weekend, to meet new people, and discover new things about your city, Foodi tours will show you where to start.
This was such a great event for the young group I took along.(11 year old gals ) Very relaxing being guided and informed about chocolate by the lovely Felicity. It took all my decision making about where to go out of the equation ! Fondest of memories. Thank you to all the wonderful store owners also 5/5 by Lee Kendall 14-12-2014

I liked in particular the actual tastings of chocolate, naturally, but also the relaxed way in which interesting facts about chocolate were offered throughout the tour. The fact there was a chance to "win" chocolate at the end was a great incentive to tune in more attentively, too :) 4/5 by Beth Lismanis 2-12-2014
We did the tour expecting to sample and understand the history of chocolate and how to appreciate it better. Felicity gave us an introduction to chocolate and we enjoyed some wonderful samples. The stop at San Churros was excellent and the final stop at the Belgian Chocolate shop was most informative. 4/5 by Robyn Eyears 30-11-2014

I had sent a family member earlier in the year to test this walk. I am pleased to advise they raved about the event and of course I booked for my friend and I and we were both pleasantly surprised with the tour. Felicity was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all questions asked. A good event for gift giving. 5/5 by Lorraine 3-11-2014

My friend and I had a really good time on the tour. It was a gift for my friend's birthday and I will be recommending it to other people since she really enjoyed it. I think the tour ran for just the right length of time I wouldn't have liked it to have gone on any longer. I'm still a little sick in the tell me from eating too much chocolate but boy did I have fun! 5/5 by Kiesten McCauley 25-10-2014

Variety was good except for maybe the gelati store, cooler day meant I wasn't feeling like a cold sorbet etc , although lovely to taste test, how would I get it home without melting? Great sampling and good variety of choccie shops, all with friendly staff. Gerard Gosen is an inspiration! Our hot chocolate break was wonderful. Felecity has a lovely, bright, bubbly, professional personality and made me feel comfortable and totally into it's good to eat chocolate, not that I really had a problem before...heehee.....she is an asset. Thank you.Jane 4/5 by Jane Walker 10-8-2014
