Duration: 2.5 hours
Meeting Point: Brisbane Visitors Information Centre, Queen Street Mall
The history and culture surrounding chocolate has become an artform that is the epitome of refinement and the height of luxury. Learning to taste chocolate and appreciate its complexity requires a finesse that comes with years of practise.
This tour is a chance to discover some of Brisbane’s best chocolatiers and gain insight into their craft. You’ll learn about how chocolate is produced, from a bean on the cacao tree through to the hands of the chocolate makers; and the terminology used by industry experts to describe the taste, smell, and forms of chocolate.
You’ll be able to sample the chocolates at each venue you visit, where you will also learn the elements of a proper chocolate tasting; the different cacao percentages, and how they affect the taste. Discounts on purchases are also available at a number of the venues.
You will visit four venues around the city, with a break in between. There will be a substantial amount of walking involved on the day, so please wear comfortable shoes and bring an umbrella if the weather calls for it. The tour price includes the sit-down break, and all chocolate tastings on the day. This tour is not gluten or dairy free.
If you’re looking for a few hours of fun on the weekend, to meet new people, and discover new things about your city, Foodi tours will show you where to start.

I liked in particular the actual tastings of chocolate, naturally, but also the relaxed way in which interesting facts about chocolate were offered throughout the tour. The fact there was a chance to "win" chocolate at the end was a great incentive to tune in more attentively, too :) 4/5 by Beth Lismanis 2-12-2014
We did the tour expecting to sample and understand the history of chocolate and how to appreciate it better. Felicity gave us an introduction to chocolate and we enjoyed some wonderful samples. The stop at San Churros was excellent and the final stop at the Belgian Chocolate shop was most informative. 4/5 by Robyn Eyears 30-11-2014
