Time: Weekly, 10am Saturdays
Duration: 3 hours
Meeting Point: Brisbane Visitors Information Centre, Queen Street Mall
The history and culture surrounding chocolate has become an artform that is the epitome of refinement and the height of luxury. Learning to taste chocolate and appreciate its complexity requires a finesse that comes with years of practise.
This tour is a chance to discover some of Brisbane’s best chocolatiers and gain insight into their craft. You’ll learn about how chocolate is produced, from a bean on the cacao tree through to the hands of the chocolate makers; and the terminology used by industry experts to describe the taste, smell, and forms of chocolate.
You’ll be able to sample the chocolates at each venue you visit, where you will also learn the elements of a proper chocolate tasting; the different cacao percentages, and how they affect the taste. Discounts on purchases are also available at a number of the venues.
You will visit four venues around the city, with a break in between. There will be some walking involved on the day, so please wear comfortable shoes and bring an umbrella if the weather calls for it. The tour price includes the sit-down break, and all chocolate tastings on the day. This tour is not gluten or dairy free.
If you’re looking for a few hours of fun on the weekend, to meet new people, and discover new things about your city, Foodi tours will show you where to start.

Surprising that as a local I did not know some of these chocolate places existed! Guide was fun and relaxed and a great day. Plenty of tastings .....all different and well-planned. 5/5 by Christine 7-2-2016

A fantastic tour and David was a great guide. We unfortunately were unable to go to one of the venues so missed out on the cocktails but got to sample extra treats at another place instead. 4/5 by Lucy Dahl 10-1-2016

My chocolaholic friend loved the walk and I enjoyed the variety of chocolate-related products we tried, e.g. The cocktail, the churros, the Japanese twist. The last venue was a disappointment but that could have been because I felt overdone with chocolate by then. Thank you Karen for a fun morning. 4/5 by Jennifer Purcell 31-10-2015
