High Tea was once a meal for the working man, taken standing up or sitting on tall stalls, which is where the ‘high’ comes from. Today, it is more commonly known as an meal of tea, sandwiches, scones and cake.
The charm of high tea is becoming increasingly popular across Brisbane, with many hotels, tea rooms and historic buildings offering an array of treats.
Foodi have gathered together the best high tea elements in the CBD to bring you a high tea experience with a difference.
On this walking tour, you’ll visit a variety of venues, each with their own samples to share and history to tell, including a glass of sparkling. We even squeeze in a sneaky view of a stunning rooftop bar, which just oozes luxury!
Your friendly host will also discuss tea etiquette, and how high tea was established, including its components the quiche, macaron and petit fours.
There will be some walking involved on the day, so please wear comfortable shoes and bring an umbrella if the weather calls for it.

It's an opportunity to learn what high tea is. I am very happy that the owner of the room with rose came to say something regarding high tea to us. But a little bit disappointed is in the 2nd restaurant, we only had tea and dessert there, just like normal customers. First stop Room with Roses was brilliant - high tea venue extraordinary owing to historical influence - Second Venue stop - food was wonderful but very rich. Final stop could have had small platter to go with wine.

Lovely - new places that we were unaware of although we have been to Brisbane many times. The host Kyla was on time, which was an improvment on our previous experience, so that was a good start.

We weren't sure how to dress for this tour so probably dress code should be included. It was an extremely hot day and we were standing in the sun listening to our guide which was not comfortable. Le Bon Choix was good with the dessert of your choice and the macaron. Keri Craig sandwiches were a little light on.
