High Tea was once a meal for the working man, taken standing up or sitting on tall stalls, which is where the 'high' comes from. Today, it is more commonly known as a meal of tea, sandwiches, scones and cake.
The charm of high tea is becoming increasingly popular across Adelaide, with many hotels, tea rooms and historic buildings offering an array of treats.
Foodi have gathered together the best high tea elements in the CBD to bring you a high tea experience with a difference.
On this walking tour, you'll visit a variety of venues, each with their own history to tell and samples to share, including a mix of sweet and savoury options. Sparkling wine will be made available for purchase at the last venue.
Your friendly host will discuss how tea was established and came to Australia, as well as the history of high tea, afternoon tea and cream tea.
During the tour, you'll also stroll through the beautiful Adelaide Botanic Gardens, and finish off at the Art Gallery of South Australia.
There will be some walking involved on the day, so please wear comfortable shoes and bring an umbrella if the weather calls for it.
Please note this tour needs a minimum of 4 people.

Very enjoyable, the choice of venues was interesting 5/5 by Karen Scaife 15-1-2017
I enjoyed our afternoon in the city. Kerry was so friendly and did a great job as host, sharing her knowledge and experiences of the venues and surrounds, adding little snippets of information to make it even more interested. The wine centre was a pleasant surprise first stop and I appreciated the balance between our walks and the rests including tastings. I did feel that the name of "High Tea" was a little incongruous as it really was more of an "afternoon tea". However the venues were welcoming and the company pleasant so it made for a very enjoyable day. Thanks Foodi Tour and Kerry 4/5 by Wendy Theile 10-1-2017
Would have preferred all the savory foods first and then the sweet foods. I really enjoyed it though. 4/5 by Julia Dalton 23-12-2016
